Fall in Love All Over Again with Storytelling!

It’s time to disrupt the way you tell stories with Google Tour Builder.

The fast changing technology trends has disrupted the way we learn and share our ideas. The flood of digital media tools offers various digital apps that help teachers and students visualizing their ideas and building connection with people.

If you want to go to the next level in the way you present your ideas with through attractive visual stories, interactive exploration, and meaningful global connection, you should definitely try Google Tour Builder.

Together with Sekolah Tinggi Bahasa Asing LIA and LB LIA at their international conference, we wanted to introduce a new way of telling creative stories with Google Tour Builder for researchers, educators, translators, and scholar students.

At first, you probably will say,”This app is created for Geography teachers, helping them to visualize map.” Well, yes it can be used to enhance Geography lesson but that’s not the core purpose of this app. In fact, Tour builder put narrative and stories as their first and foremost soul of this app.

“Tour Builder  was originally created to tell stories of military veterans. With the power of storytelling as its core, Google Tour Builder provides a way for someone to create a virtual tour of different geographic landmarks and regions.”(Kermode & Randall, 2018, p. 62)

As one of amazing Google Geo Tools, Google Tour Builder has a lot of incredible features for teachers to enrich your stories & presentation:

  • Add a location
  • Add pictures & video
  • Add icons
  • Add descriptive stories
  • Add colors
  • View on Google Earth
  • Sharing feature

One of my favorite features of this app is that you can open your Tour Builder stories on Google Earth, a cool 3d interactive app that allow you to present your stories through immersive location based format.  You should definitely try it!

Helping teachers in STBA LIA to use Google Tour Builder was an amazing experiences as this tool successfully  empowered these amazing group of language teachers to change the way they tell stories in the ways they’ve always imagined:

  1. Introduce their life stories with global connection
  2. Create immersive stories of famous landmarks
  3. Build interactive learning explorations.

Beyond learning Geography and mapping tools, Google Tour Builder successfully made these language teachers fall in love in storytelling again! Of course we come up with a lot of brilliant ideas of teaching language and literature using Tour Builder as this app will empower students will share important moments with relevant geographical context.

I have no doubt their students will be more excited to visualize their imagination and memories in their stories with this powerful app.

If you have engaging stories on Google Tour Builder, please feel free to share here by commenting on my post!
